Meditation Voice and Movement Workshop

The presence-oriented ways of being differ so greatly from ways of being that has been conditioned into our organisms so systematically and for such a long time.  I host a workshop in order to inspire people to engage in this age-old awareness practice that brings wisdom from the depths of our consciousness.

In this workshop, people are encouraged to look within themselves for sources of inspiration and understanding normally unavailable in the stream of habituated activity.  If you have time on Thursday afternoons from 2-4pm your presence would be very welcome.

The workshop is free, because part of the problem in our present consensus is the commodification of everything.

Class Structure (times are approximate):

·         5 minutes of introductions:  A brief overview of the class is given.  Participants are invited to introduce themselves and to ask any questions they may have.

·         30 minutes of guided meditation: Participants are then guided through a two-part meditation.  The first meditation uses the body to help center awareness and activate subtle energies.  The second meditation uses this hightened awareness to bring concerted attention to the continuous changes taking place in the present moment.

·         15 minutes of contemplative movement: Participants are then invited to explore the space around them.  During this part of the class participants are asked to take note of the presence of others but not to engage in active interaction.

·         5 minutes of stillness-awareness meditation

·         45 minutes of open space: Participants are then invited to explore relationship by authentic uses of stillness, voice and movment.  Open space provides an opportunity to explore the activities of the body/mind in an open environment without the intrusion of external expectations.  Thus it is emphasized that any amount of interaction between the extremes of stillness and activity is appropriate.

·         10 minutes of stillness-awareness meditation.

·         15-25 minutes of processing:  Participants are then invited to share any part of their experience they choose.  As with open space, no participation is necessary.  The intention is to provide an unobstructed window into your own experience in the presence of other beings.
